I was having a difficult time coming up with a green painting to go along with the blue and red ones from the other courses. Then I remembered John 12:24-25 (The Message):
“Listen carefully: Unless a grain of wheat is buried in the ground, dead to the world, it is never any more than a grain of wheat. But if it is buried, it sprouts and reproduces itself many times over. In the same way, anyone who holds on to life just as it is destroys that life. But if you let it go, reckless in your love, you’ll have it forever real and eternal.”
Essentials Green focused a lot on developing the inner life, and I have always loved the way plants and trees give a visual picture of how important the inner life is to the outer life. Without a good root system and water and nutrients from the soil the plant will die. And when a seed that is planted in the ground is given what it needs to grow, it grows into a plant that produces more seeds in order to reproduce itself many times over. What a great picture of what happens to us when we are rooted in God.
My hope is to reproduce all three paintings on a larger scale to display at church. The latest idea is to paint them on some sound buffers made from burlap stretched over frames, so they will, hopefully, be attractive and serve a practical purpose as well.
Lorien , I love this painting!!! I am doing the Essentials Green and just about to post my project. It is a poem/story type presentation. I cannot paint or draw – if I email you my poem, would you be able to do a painting or drawing which i could use as part of the presentation? It will be for the future, not for the Green project.
I pray you will be ok to do this. Please blog me back. Thanks
Sorry, I don’t check my blog all that often lately, so I just received your comment. Thank you for visiting my blog and for your encouraging words. I would love to read your poem and see what God shows me. I’m assuming it’s on your blog, so I will look at it when I get a chance. As far as when I could have a painting ready for you goes, that may be a bit of a challenge. My husband and I just kicked off our church-plant, and I’m expecting our 5th child in March. Let me know if it’s already too late or when you need it by, and I’ll see what I can do and what God shows me. I really enjoyed all of the essentials courses and found them well worth my time, and contributing to your inspiration is worth my time as well.
Lorien, thank you for getting back to me. I didn’t need the picture for the final project for the course – this is for my personal use and depending where God leads me, I would use it for prophetic artwork.
There is no time limit – either painting or pencil or whatever. All i would ask for first, is a rough idea of cost!
Tell me about your church plant, that sounds exciting. Is to be part of an estabished church movement or independant?
My poem was prophetic work so the idea of prophetic art to accompany it would be a pleasure to God I’m sure! The poem is very much ‘in the meaning’ of where I’m at in my worship leading/artisan walk with God. Due to changes in my church I’m also going through a period of change. Let me know your personal email and I’ll tell you more.
God bless
